talked with a highschool basketball coach after playing this morning. He said one of the toughest things was getting people, especially boys, to try harder than what they were comfortable with.
I started playing basketball in high school, and fell in love with it some time in college. I was never particularly good at the fundamentals of the game (shooting and dribbling) but I was athletic enough to be competitive. Now that I’m older and don’t have that same athleticism, I’ve started drilling in shooting and dribbling.
the athletes that make it have three things – talent, the desire to work hard and become the best, and a coach. I think these things apply to life as well. if you’ve got one of these things, you’ll do alright, if you’ve got two you’ll probably be successful, and if you have all three you can elevate to be one of the best.
